Using the Assessment as a Growth Tool: This rubric was designed by a teacher working with a wide variety of students. She wanted to measure growth of her verbal and non-verbal students using a single growth tool. This tool lends itself well for measuring and monitoring learning over time. Points are given based on the amount of support and prompting a student receives. Be cautious in implementation that teachers give consistent amounts of “wait time” prior to prompts, and prompts are given in a consistent way in order to gather reliable results.
